Let Heaven Invade Earth (Feb 9)

Accessing Heaven: Trusting God Completely

In our fast-paced world, filled with uncertainty and chaos, there's a deep longing for something more - a connection to the divine that can bring peace, purpose, and power to our lives. But how do we bridge the gap between earth and heaven? How can we invite the supernatural into our natural world?

The answer lies in a profound truth: we have access to heaven, but we often limit ourselves. We don't have because we don't ask. We hold back parts of ourselves, afraid to fully surrender to God's plan. But what if we dared to trust completely?

Consider the story of Jacob in Genesis 28. Running from his brother Esau, exhausted and alone, Jacob lays his head on a stone and has a remarkable dream. He sees a ladder stretching from earth to heaven, with angels ascending and descending. God stands above it and speaks to Jacob, revealing his destiny and promising His presence.

When Jacob awakes, he exclaims, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it... This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven." (Genesis 28:16-17)
This powerful image of Jacob's ladder represents our potential access to heaven. It's not just a story from long ago - it's an invitation for us today. We, too, can experience heaven invading earth if we're willing to take the necessary steps.
The foundation of this heavenly access is found in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Let's break this down:
  1. Trust Completely: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." This isn't a partial trust or a conditional faith. It's an all-or-nothing proposition. God is asking for 100% of our hearts, not just the easy parts or the areas we're comfortable surrendering. When we pray, we need to lay it all out before Him - our hopes, fears, struggles, and dreams. He already knows, but He's waiting for us to confess and truly give it all to Him.
  2. Surrender Your Understanding: "Lean not on your own understanding." This is perhaps the hardest part for many of us. We like to think we have things figured out. We google the fastest routes, rely on our intelligence and experience, and try to control outcomes. But God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). True faith requires us to let go of our limited perspective and trust in God's infinite wisdom.
  3. Submit in Everything: "In all your ways submit to him." This goes beyond just the "spiritual" aspects of our lives. God wants every area - our relationships, careers, finances, dreams, and daily decisions. When we fully submit, we allow God to guide our steps and accelerate our journey to our divine destination.
The result? "He will make your paths straight." When we trust, surrender, and submit, God clears the way. He removes obstacles, opens doors, and aligns circumstances in ways we could never orchestrate on our own.

This level of trust doesn't come easily. It often requires a stripping away of everything we've relied on before. Like Jacob using a stone for a pillow, we may find ourselves in uncomfortable places, feeling vulnerable and exposed. But it's in these moments of complete dependence that we position ourselves for a divine encounter.

As we grow in trust, we'll find ourselves able to take courageous steps of faith. Even when the path seems shaky or uncertain, we can move forward knowing that God is guiding us. This trust allows us to silence the negative voices - both internal and external - that would hold us back from God's best.

Importantly, trusting God fully also increases our capacity to forgive others. As we experience the depth of God's forgiveness and grace in our own lives, we become more able to extend that same mercy to those who have hurt us. This is a crucial element of allowing heaven to invade our earthly relationships and communities.
So how do we cultivate this level of trust? Here are some practical steps:
  1. Spend time in God's presence: Like Jacob's encounter at Bethel, we need to create space for God to speak to us and reveal His plans.
  2. Surrender daily: Make it a habit to give your day, your decisions, and your desires to God each morning.
  3. Act on faith: When God prompts you to take a step, do it - even if it doesn't make sense from a human perspective.
  4. Surround yourself with faith-filled friends: Find people who will encourage your trust in God and celebrate His faithfulness with you.
  5. Remember God's faithfulness: Keep a record of how God has come through for you in the past. This builds your faith for the future.
As we learn to access heaven through complete trust in God, we'll find ourselves living with a new level of authority and purpose. We'll walk into situations knowing we're there because God ordained it. We'll speak with wisdom that comes from above. We'll see breakthroughs in areas where we've been stuck for years.

The world desperately needs people who know how to access heaven - individuals who can bring God's perspective, power, and presence into every sphere of influence. As we trust God completely, surrender our understanding, and submit our ways to Him, we become conduits for His kingdom to invade earth.

Are you ready to take the next step on your ladder to heaven? Are you willing to trust God with everything, even the dreams and visions He's placed in your heart? The invitation is open. Heaven is waiting. Will you dare to access all that God has for you?
