Who Do You Say I Am | Palm Sunday | Pastor John Zayas
On Palm Sunday, we celebrate the moment Jesus enters Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna!”—praised as King by the crowds. Yet, just days later, many of those same voices would fall silent or turn away. In Gospel of Matthew 16:13–20, Jesus asks a question that cuts deeper than public praise: “Who do you say I am?”
This message invites us to wrestle with the tension between recognition and revelation. It’s one thing to echo what others are saying about Jesus—it’s another to have a personal conviction of who He truly is. Like Peter the Apostle, who boldly declared Jesus as the Messiah, we are called to move beyond surface-level faith into a transformative understanding that shapes how we live.
As we wave palms and remember the triumphal entry, we are confronted with a deeper call: Is Jesus just a Savior we celebrate, or a King we surrender to? Palm Sunday isn’t just about what the crowd said then—it’s about what we say now, with our lives.
In this sacred moment leading into Holy Week, we are invited to answer Jesus’ question with clarity, conviction, and commitment. Because how we respond determines how we follow.
